Pick the look you want and we’ll tell you which product gets you there, and exactly how. In two cases we’ll tell you the right product isn’t on the shop yet.
A style is decided by two things
How long the shape lasts.
- 5 · Gel
- The highest hold in the range. It sets on the shape.
- 4 · Pro X and Pro
- Firm hold with texture
- 3 · Shea, Argan, Black
- Medium and flexible. Rework it whenever.
Whether it reads wet or dry.
- High
- Pro X, Pro, Argan, Black and the Blue gel
- Medium
- Shea, and the Golden and Green gels
- Matte
- The clay wax and the pomade, neither on the shop yet
Hold is one scale from 1 to 5 across the whole range. The shine ratings are the manufacturer’s own, per product, rather than our estimate. The table below is the whole range on both axes.
The six styles

Low taper fade, top styled
Hold 4 · Reworkable all dayLow taper sides from the barber. The top is on you.

The curl cream, the curl foam and the leave-in are all still in production. This wax seals in the water your hair already has rather than adding any, so it has to go on wet.

Curtains
Hold 3 · Centre partParted down the middle, falling to each side. What every young guy wants now.
A centre part is really built for a light styling cream, and the styling creams are still in production. The Shea is the closest thing, but it’s a wax.

Quiff
Hold 4 · Height at the frontHeight at the front, natural not inflated, and it holds past lunch.
We don’t make a mousse or a pre-styling primer, and that’s what builds the height. This look leans on your dryer more than on the jar.

The clay wax is the crop product and the factory makes it. It just isn’t on the shop yet, so the pick above is the closest wax rather than the one built for this.

Hold comes from the catalogue, shine from the manufacturer’s own per-product rating. Each gel fronts exactly one style, and nothing here doubles up.

In production now
The same list as the hair-types page, read from the style end. The picks above are the best that’s on the shop today.
- The clay wax and the pomade are made but not listed yet, and they’re the two matte formats. Until they land, nothing on the shop gives a dry finish, which is the whole basis of the textured crop.
- The styling creams, the curl cream, the curl foam and the leave-in are all in production now. Those are the ones that serve the curtains and defined curls.
- No mousse and no pre-styling primer. A quiff starts at the dryer rather than at the jar, and the product that builds that height isn’t one we make.
